Amfipolis<\/strong> is located at the foot of Mount Pangaeos. This rich place was known since ancient times for the variety of its vegetation. Pangaeos, rich in fauna and flora but also in mineral wealth (gold and silver), has been a point of claim for many peoples over time.<\/p>

According to Greek mythology, the mountain's original name was Karmanion<\/strong>, while it was later named Pangaeion<\/strong> after Pangaeus, son of the god Ares and Kritovouli. On the mountain's summit, the Satres built the Oracle of Dionysus<\/strong>, which was considered equal to the oracle at Delphi. According to tradition, the mythical musician Orpheus<\/strong> lived and taught here.<\/p>

Amfipolis was an important ancient city of Eastern Macedonia, built on the banks of the Strymona<\/strong> river, on the site of an older city called Nine Roads<\/strong>. It was founded by the Athenians in 437 BC<\/strong> and later conquered by Philip II of Macedon<\/strong> in 358 BC, becoming an important center of Macedonian power.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Today the area is known for the Leon of Amphipolis<\/strong>, located next to the old Strymon bridge, as well as for the funerary monument of Tumbus Kastas<\/strong>. Mount Pangaio<\/strong> is one of the most important beekeeping areas in northern Greece. The rich vegetation of the area, with forests, aromatic plants and mountain flora, creates ideal conditions for the production of quality Greek honey.<\/p>
